The annual Brentwood community fundraiser and fourth Home Run For Kids 5K/10K will return to San Vicente Boulevard Sunday, March 6 to raise money for housing and services for homeless children and their families.
Last year, Home Run for Kids had more than 1,500 people in attendance and more than 35 local schools and businesses participating.
A fairly flat and fast course along Brentwood’s San Vicente Boulevard, the course will begin at San Vicente and Darlington Avenue and end at Avondale Avenue. Organized from 6 am to noon, the 10K race begins at 7:30 am, the 5K race at 8:30 am, and the Kiddie K Fun Run at 9:30 am. The Expo – with vendors, a bounce house, raffle, children’s entertainment, and athletic exhibitors – is open from 7 am until noon for families and runners to enjoy.
Participants range from runners and walkers to dogs and strollers. Councilmember Mike Bonin will serve as the event’s Grand Marshal, and Beachbody of Santa Monica is the main partner with Upward Bound.
All proceeds will benefit Upward Bound House, a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating homelessness among families with children in Los Angeles by providing housing, supportive services, and advocacy.
Online registration is open now at www.HomeRunForKids.com. Registration will also be available on race day the morning of Sunday, March 6.
