There are no top hotels in Beverly Hills or Los Angeles.
That’s the conclusion of TripAdvisor.com as the travel website Thursday issued its list of the “Top 25 Hotels — United States.”
Beverly Hills Hotel? Nope. Hotel Bel-Air? Forget about it.
The top hotel according to TripAdvisor.com? The Sherry-Netherland Hotel in New York.
California certainly wasn’t shut out, though, with four hotels in the top 25. But three of the four are in the Northern California wine country around the tourist-centric Napa Valley. They are:
— Bardessono in Yountville at number 2.
— Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford at number 13.
— Hotel Yountville in Yountville t number 19.
The only Southern California hotel in the top 25 was the Ponte Vineyard Inn in the Riverside County wine country town of Temecula. It was rated as number 6.
Some travel professionals may disagree with the website’s conclusions that ignores dozens of famed, expensive hotels. But as is the case with all TripAdvisor rankings, the list is based on assessments by visitors to the website from around the nation and around the world, not the opinions of “experts.”
Some other top hotels included in the list were the Nantucket Hotel & Resort in Natucket, the French Quarter Inn in Charleston, South Carolina, the Oxford Hotel in Bend, Oregon, the Icona Diamond Beach in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey, the Talbott Hotel in Chicago, the Belamere Suites in Perrysburg, Ohio and the Casablanca Hotel Times Square in New York.
