It’s four for four for “Furious 7.” For the fourth consecutive weekend, the movie was the estimated top revenue draw among movies in theaters, bringing in a projected $18,259, 360, according to Box Office By Studio System estimates.
It’s the first film since Lionsgate’s first installment of “The Hunger Games” in March of 2012 to go four for four. Only 29 films since ‘983 and six films in the 2000s have achieved that, according to data from Rentrak.
The film’s North American total is $320.5 million “as the global gross for the film continues to astound after crossing the $1 billion mark without breaking a sweat over a week ago,” according to Paul Dergarabedian.
“Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2″is projected to be the second-highest grossing film, bringing in an estimated $15, 510,000. Lionsgate’s “The Age of Adeline” debuts in third place, according to estimates, with revenue projected at $13, 375,000.
Rounding out the top five are “Home” ($8.3 million) and “Unfriended” ($6,243,750.)
