CBS announces end to “Two and a Half Men” and 2015 lineup changes

CBS announced yesterday that “Two and a Half Men” will end its 12-season run with an hourlong episode Feb. 19.

When CBS unveiled its programming plans for the 2014-15 season in May, it announced this would be the final season for “Two and a Half Men,” television’s most watched comedy for five consecutive seasons from 2005-2006 through 2009-2010.

When “Two and a Half Men” completes its run, it will have aired 262 episodes. It received 47 Emmy nominations, with Jon Cryer winning twice, for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series in 2009 and outstanding lead actor in a comedy series in 2012.

Reruns of “The Big Bang Theory” will replace “Two and a Half Men” in its 9-9:30 p.m Thursday time slot.

CBS also announced the third prime-time version of “The Odd Couple” will premiere Feb. 19, airing from 8:30-9 p.m. Thursdays, replacing “Mom,” which will move to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning Feb. 26.

The latest version of “The Odd Couple” stars Matthew Perry as the slob Oscar Madison and Thomas Lennon as the uptight neat freak Felix Unger.

“The Odd Couple” initially aired on ABC from 1970-75, starring Jack Klugman as Oscar Madison and Tony Randall as Felix Unger. Another version ran in the 1982-83 season starring Demond Wilson as Oscar Madison and Ron Glass as Felix Unger.

CBS also announced that the drama “Battle Creek,” whose creators include “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan, will premiere March 1 and the latest entry in its “CSI” franchise, “CSI: Cyber” will premiere March 4.
