Tropical Storm Simon is pumping up the surf in Southern California, with waves rolling in at 6-8 feet.
A high surf advisory issued by the National Weather Service will be in effect until 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The swell is out of the south, and water temperatures are 66-72 degrees. With the big waves come increased risks of rip currents.
Some coastal flooding is possible in low-lying areas, such as Long Beach and Seal Beach.
Orange County surf will be slightly smaller, 4-6 feet with sets up to 10 feet. The biggest waves are expected north of Carlsbad.
