Metrolink to provide special service at today’s USC Football game

Metrolink will provide special train service from Oceanside to Union Station for tonight’s USC-Oregon State football game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The USC Football Express is scheduled to depart from Oceanside at 3:15 p.m., make 11 stops and arrive at Union Station at 5:25 p.m. From there, riders will transfer at no additional cost to a Metro Rail Red Line or Purple Line train, which they will take to the 7th Street/Metro Center station and transfer to an Expo Line train at no additional charge.

The return train, Train 6506, will leave Union Station 75 minutes after the game ends and travel south to Oceanside and all points in between on Metrolink’s Orange County Line.

The other northbound stops will be at San Clemente (3:39 p.m.); San Juan Capistrano (3:49 p.m.); Laguna Niguel (3:55 p.m.); Irvine (4:04 p.m.); Tustin (4:10 p.m.); Santa Ana (4:16 p.m.); Orange (4:21 p.m.); Anaheim (4:26 p.m.); Fullerton (4:34 p.m.); Buena Park (4:42 p.m.); and Norwalk (4:51 p.m.).

The roundtrip fare is covered by the purchase of a $10 weekend day pass, which allows passengers to ride anytime, anywhere on the Metrolink system either Saturday or Sunday.

More information is available online at octa.net/usc.

The $5,000 needed to fund the USC Football Express is provided by the Orange County Transportation Authority. The idea was spearheaded by Orange County Supervisor Shawn Nelson, who chairs the OCTA Board of Directors, to help Trojan fans throughout Orange County get to a night game.

The USC Football Express began last season with service to one night game.
