Singer Simone Battle, who rose to fame as a finalist in the 2011 U.S. version of “X-Factor,” was found dead in her West Hollywood apartment and suicide is being investigated, investigators said today.
Battle, 25, was found dead Friday morning in her West Hollywood apartment, said Lt. W. Nash of the sheriff’s West Hollywood station.
Following her “X-Factor” brush with stardom, she joined G.R.L., the all-girl group formed by Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin.
Deputies were dispatched at 8:24 a.m. Friday on a “possible suicide” call to the 9000 block of Dorrington Avenue, Nash said.
The sheriff’s lieutenant said it was unknown where Battle’s body was found inside the apartment. But TMZ reported she was found hanging on a rod in the closet of her bedroom.
Coroner’s Lt. David Smith said Battle’s autopsy will “probably” be done Sunday.
“The investigator hasn’t finished the report,” Smith said.
