“It’s tragic how many people lose their lives to drunk driving,” said Sgt. Sean Karmody of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Traffic Coordination Section.
Among the enforcement efforts are DUI checkpoints by the LAPD at the
following times and locations:
— at 8 p.m., a six-hour checkpoint will begin at Vermont Avenue and
Sixth Street;
— at 8 p.m., a six-hour checkpoint will begin at Roscoe Boulevard and
Gloria Avenue; and
— at 10 p.m., a six-hour checkpoint will begin at Figueroa and Ninth
streets.
Funding for the task force operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
