Two men and a woman were wounded, including one critically, at an exclusive West Hollywood nightclub this morning, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department official said.
One of the wounded was said to be rap mogul and Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight, 49, who walked out of the nightclub on his own and was in surgery at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, according to the entertainment website TMZ.
Recording artist Chris Brown reportedly was hosting a pre-Video Music Awards party at the 1OAK nightclub at 9039 W. Sunset Blvd. when the shooting occurred.
Brown, 25, was shot at but apparently not hit, according to TMZ.
Sources told celebrity news website the rapper Game and some friends fought with security guards at the club when he was denied access to the party before the shooting. Reportedly, he was not invited.
The shooting was reported at 1:36 a.m. said Deputy Crystal Hernandez of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.
One victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Robert Diaz.
Hernandez did not release the names of the victims, but she noted one of the men was 49, one was 32 and the woman was 19. She did not say which of the victims was critical.
“They were transported to local hospitals and they are expected to recover,” Hernandez said.
“Detectives from West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station are responding to the scene to investigate,” she said.
The suspect’s status was “unknown,” Hernandez said.
1OAK, also known as One Of A Kind, opened on the Sunset Strip last January, according to its website.
