The interim head of the city Recreation and Parks Department was nominated by the mayor today to lead the agency full-time.
If confirmed by the City Council, Michael Shull would succeed Jon Mukri, who has moved to the Port of Los Angeles, according to the mayor’s office.
Shull has served as the Recreation and Parks Department’s interim general manager since December, after Mukri was assigned to temporarily lead the Transportation Department.
Shull began his career with the city in 1990 at the Bureau of Engineering in the Public Works Department, after earning a civil engineering degree from Penn State University. He joined the Recreation and Parks Department in 2005, serving as assistant general manager of the Advanced Planning Section.
