A month-long cross-country bicycle tour to support post-9/11 service members is scheduled to begin in the Malibu area on June 4. The Ride Across USA cycling team will venture across the United States until it reaches Florida on July 8.
The roughly 3,000-mile journey will specifically take the Ride Across USA cycling team from Malibu to Amelia Island, Fla., in a little more than a month. The nationwide trek aims to raise awareness and money for Hope For The Warriors, which, according to one of the cyclists, is “a post-9/11 charity that helps restore hope and healing to injured service members and their families.”
With an average age of 48, the cyclists will travel about 100 miles per segment.
The trek will take the cyclists through the California desert before making stops at the Grand Canyon and northern Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia before arriving in Amelia Island, Fla.
They will be spending the Fourth of July in Oxford, Ala.
During the nationwide ride, the cyclists will only be taking four days off.
