A man who was reportedly in an officer-involved shooting during an attempted robbery at Lawry’s The Prime Rib restaurant in Beverly Hills will have to wait until July 17 for his sentencing.
According to court officials, the sentencing hearing for Floyd Nelson was postponed for another six weeks. Nelson was convicted in 2013 for his involvement in a 2008 attempted robbery at Lawry’s with Felton Bradford.
In July 2008, both Nelson and Bradford attempted to rob Lawry’s at about 6 a.m. and reportedly held a chef at gunpoint. When the chef reportedly failed to cooperate and give the two suspects money from a safe, undercover police officers followed Nelson and Bradford for a few blocks until the duo allegedly aimed their respective guns at them.
A shooting reportedly ensued, with Nelson apparently wounded by the gunfire. A stretch of San Vicente Boulevard between Fairfax Avenue and Olympic Boulevard was reportedly shut down for hours during the investigation.
In 2013, more than five years after the incident, a jury reportedly found Nelson guilty of attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and possessing a firearm as a felon.
Bradford, who is also known as Alonso Harris, was convicted of 37 counts, including attempted armed robbery of Lawry’s, according to news reports. The other convictions were related to a strong of robberies and attempted robberies Bradford were apparently a part of at businesses in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.
No word on the timing of Bradford’s sentencing.
Lawry’s is located on Restaurant Row at 100 N. La Cienega Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
