It was 50 years ago this coming month – August 5, 1962 – that Brentwood resident Marilyn Monroe died in her home on 5th Helena.
At the time, her death was listed as a “possible suicide,†the result of swallowing barbiturates.
But there has been ongoing speculation ever since. Rumors include a mafia hit, Kennedy involvement – or possibly both combined. She was 36 when she died.
Monroe was known worldwide, and her iconic image dominates popular culture to this day. She is possibly the best known star who ever lived on our entire planet. Marilyn Monroe is buried in Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery.
