The new year welcomed a new law firm to the block: Century City is now home to Kaedian LLC with three female attorneys as founding partners; Teresa Alcaron, Katherine “Kacey” McBroom, and Nannina Angioni. The trio officially launched their Los Angeles office in January.
As attorneys who specialize in business litigation, white-collar crime and investigations, labor and employment litigation and compliance, general criminal defense, and international dispute resolution, the three women have years of training and experience under their belts.
After formerly working together at Los Angeles-based litigation boutique Brown, White & Newhouse, the women decided to take hold of their professional chemistry.
“We realized that we were really compatible with one another and that we worked well together,” McBroom said. “We had the opportunity at [Brown, White & Newhouse] to cross over although we have different areas of practice.”
McBroom said that one of the leading reasons as to why the trio decided to assemble their own practice was to have “control over the cases that they were bringing in.”
Since the three attorneys have represented clients in all aspects of state and federal matters – from investigations to mediations – Kaedian is comprised of seasoned litigators who seek the “best for their clients in both business and life.”
McBroom said that the Kaedian attorneys are “all really great negotiators” and “know how to communicate well with clients.”
In order to serve in the most effective way possible, the attorneys partner with their clients in order to “ensure compliance with the most current laws and regulations.”
In addition to their meticulous work, Kaedian explained that the firm possesses another standout characteristic in that all three founding partners are female.
“Only about 17 percent of women are equity partners at their own firms, so it’s neat that the three of us have been able to do this together and have control over our own cases,” McBroom explained. “We’re really proud of that.”
As for why the attorneys chose Century City, the “more centrally located” tiny but mighty neighborhood was what drew the three women to debuting their west L.A. office on Century Park East.
Some of Kaedian’s imminent plans are to add a few more associates to its practice within the year.
Kaedian will be honing in on clients who are seeking flexible billing rates.
“We want to serve an under-served group of clients,” McBroom said. “We can help a certain clientele that wants legal action, but without the big firm hourly rate.”
Similarly, Angioni described Kaedian’s core message as “fierce representation compassionately administered” in an article in the National Law Journal.
The three attorneys strive to look beyond the lawsuit itself and focus on the big picture, which includes the client’s business, growth plan, and other aspects of life.
Kaedian LLP opened two other offices in Newport Beach and Las Vegas this past winter as well.
“It’s a really exciting time for us,” McBroom said.
The three attorneys have respective, yet related fields of concentration when it comes to litigation.
Alarcon specializes in white-collar criminal defense and related civil litigation, splitting her time and services between Kaedian’s Century City and Newport Beach offices. Alarcon holds 15 years of litigation experience and obtained her J.D. from UCLA.
McBroom focuses on white-collar and general criminal defense and has had a lifelong dream of having her own practice. McBroom received her J.D. from USC.
Angioini specializes in business, labor, and employment litigation and compliance, advocating on behalf of companies and entrepreneurs, and management. Angioini obtained her J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law.
