Though a smattering of its pastries are offered at its coffee shops throughout the region, Starbucks reportedly announced April 22 it has plans to bring the first full-service La Boulange Bakery to Los Angeles.

An official open date was not announced, but according to information found by Westside Today the La Boulange Bakery would be located at 359 South La Brea Avenue just south of Third Street in the Mid-City area.

If open there, the La Boulange Bakery would be near The Grove, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and Park LaBrea.

La Boulange Bakery has already began advertising for job openings at the first Los Angeles store, searching for café associates and leads, cooks, and dishwashers and buss staff.

Starbucks purchased La Boulange Bakery in 2012 for $100 million. At the time, the bakery was operating 19 locations exclusively in the San Francisco Bay Area and sold its products at select hotels, restaurants, and specialties stores up north.

The foray of the full-service bakery into Los Angeles would be La Boulange’s first outside of the San Francisco region.

According to Reuters, Starbucks filed building permits for the new La Boulange location in Los Angeles. The Reuters report added Starbucks plans to expand the full-service bakery and café nationwide.

In just about any Starbucks location in Southern California, a handful of La Boulange Bakery’s pastry items are on display and available for purchase alongside Starbucks’ coffee and tea menu.

A roughly square pink La Boulange bag accompanies pastry purchases by Starbucks’ customers.

La Boulange Bakery is part of the Bay Bread Group and has 22 locations across the San Francisco Bay Area. Pascal Rigo opened the first La Boulange in San Francisco in 1999.
