Eye on Brentwood

Kevin Czinger, a former Yale football star who now lives in Brentwood, is the chief executive of Santa Monica-based Coda Autos, which imports all electric Chinese cars. The nation’s most astute investor, Warren Buffet, has invested in Coda.

The world’s wealthiest museum, the Getty in Brentwood, under pressure from Italy, has reluctantly given up the famous Getty Goddess, the museum’s most expensive acquisition. Museum founder J. Paul Getty would be having a fit if he were alive. On March 2nd, the Getty morale will be upgraded somewhat when the world famous god Apollo goes on exhibition at the Getty Villa in Malibu, on loan until September 12. The Apollo dates back to 100BC.

A Brentwood home built for legendary crooner Bing Crosby in the early 1930’s is on the market for $2,399,000. The modern structure has 2,500 square feet of living space. Crosby once owned the 4.7 acre Holmby Hills site of the Candy Spelling’ 15,000 square foot mansion which is currently on the market for $150 million.

Retiring governor Arnold Schwarzenegger hardly ever slept in Sacramento because he flew a private jet nightly into Santa Monica Airport en route to his Brentwood mansion. During his first term more than two decades ago, bachelor governor Jerry Brown refused the governor’s mansion in Sacramento and slept on a mattress on the floor of a cheap apartment. For his new term, Brown and his new wife have chosen a relatively modern condo.

At first, the thought of president Barack Obama driving through Brentwood, as he did last year, appealed to residents. The resulting horrendous rush hour traffic jam in Brentwood changed their minds and appeals have been forwarded to the White House to study new routes to the airport on his next visit.
