The average price of gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 11th time in 12 days, decreasing 1.1 cents to $4.101 for a gallon of self-serve regular.

The average price has decreased 8.1 cents over the past 12 days, including nine-tenths of a cent on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 6.3 cents less than one week ago, 3.4 cents lower than one month ago and four-tenths of a cent below what is was one year ago.

The average price rose 10 times in 11 days — to its highest amount since May 19 — immediately before the current run of decreases began.

“We’re finally seeing some relief in response to lower wholesale prices and an improving supply situation,” Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told Video News West.

The Orange County average price also dropped for the 11th time in 12 days, decreasing 1.5 cents to $4.075, 7.2 cents less than one week ago, 3.9 cents lower than one month ago and 1.5 cents below what it was one year ago.

The Orange County average price has decreased 9.2 cents over the past 12 days, including 1 cent on Wednesday. It rose 14 times in 15 days to its highest amount since May 19 immediately before the current run of decreases began.

Montgomery encouraged motorists to cash in by waiting a little longer before filling up.

But, she warned, “You don’t want to wait until it’s too low. You don’t want to run out of gas.”
