Suspect Apprehended Following Stabbing at Slauson Avenue Parking Lot
Culver City Police responded to multiple calls for service on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 2:45 p.m., regarding an altercation in the parking lot of the 6100 block of Slauson Avenue as we reported last week. Officers arrived to find a female adult victim who had been stabbed multiple times. Immediate medical aid was provided to the victim at the scene, and she was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, she has since been released.
The suspect, identified as Jorge Arnoldo Vasquez, a thirty-five-year-old Male Hispanic with an unknown city of residence, was located shortly after the incident hiding in bushes at Cougar Park, near the location of the attack.
According to the preliminary investigation, Vasquez approached the victim in the parking garage outside a retail establishment at 6100 Slauson Avenue. He allegedly carried out a violent attack, stabbing the woman multiple times. The victim managed to disarm Vasquez and escape, prompting him to flee the scene on foot.
Initially providing false identification to law enforcement, Vasquez was subsequently arrested and booked at the Culver City Police Department Jail. He now faces charges including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and providing false identification to a peace officer. Bail has been set at two million dollars.
The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Culver City Police Department Public Information Officer Jennifer Atenza at (310) 253-6120 or jennifer.atenza@culvercity.org, or reach out to the Watch Commander at (310) 253-6202.
