Los Angeles County will host free health fairs beginning Thursday as part of National Public Health Week.
“I encourage everyone to join us at our community health fairs for free health assessments and resources,” said Barbara Ferrer, who leads the county’s public health department. “The future of health is about empowering all communities with the knowledge, resources and choices to make lasting change.”
Free screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol and HIV will be available, and more than 40 agencies are expected to provide information, free giveaways and tips on staying healthy.
The first two health fairs will be held Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Van Nuys at the Zev Yaroslavsky Family Support Center, 7555 Van Nuys Blvd., and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Monrovia Public Library, 321 S. Myrtle Ave.
Additional events will take place Saturday in Paramount, East Los Angeles and Florence-Firestone. Details can be found at http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/phweek.
