Los Angeles is among 16 cities organizers of a proposed summer professional basketball league unveiled today plan to have teams.
The Champions Basketball League will be for players one-to-three years out of the NBA. The season will be held in July and August with games played in “college-size arenas with tickets priced at $25, according to organizers.
The league plans on conducting “Champions for Community” games with former NBA players during its off-season to raise money and bring awareness to various causes.
The first game is planned for Jan. 29 in St. Louis and benefit the Stuart Scott Memorial Cancer Research Fund at The V Foundation and various St. Louis-based charities.
