A lender is suing Mischa Barton and her mother, alleging they owe him more than $350,000 from a loan that was not fully repaid.
Mike Ireland filed the lawsuit Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court against the actress and Nuala Barton. A representative for the Bartons could not be immediately reached.
The suit states that Ireland lent $250,000 to Nuala Barton in September 2013 and that she agreed to pay him the money back with interest for a total of $275,000 full within three months. He says additional interest has put the amount owed at more than $350,000.
The loan was secured by a deed of trust on property Nuala Barton owned in Beverly Hills, the suit states. However, Ireland later found out that Nuala Barton co-owned the property with her daughter, the suit states.
Ireland has only received $10,000 despite demands for full payment, according to the lawsuit.
The deed of trust was neither notarized nor recorded and Ireland is now asking a judge to enforce the terms of the September 2013 agreement, despite the Bartons’ claim the loan should is not a mortgage encumbering the property, the suit states.
Mischa Barton, 29, filed suit against Nuala Barton in April in Los Angeles Superior Court alleging her mother bullied her and withheld her earnings.
