gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today.
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular
gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the fifth time in six days, decreasing 1.5 cents to $3.962.
The average price is 5.1 cents lower than one week ago and 20.3 cents less than one year ago but 71.9 cents higher than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The stretch of decreases follows a nine-day streak of increases that pushed the average price to its highest amount since July 26.
The Orange County average price recorded its largest daily decrease since March 21, dropping 1.8 cents to $3.94. It has dropped six consecutive days after a 10-day streak of increases that pushed it to its highest amount since July 24.
The Orange County average price is 5.6 cents lower than one week ago and 20.8 cents less than one year ago but 71.1 cents higher than one month ago.
The prices are dropping because “supply issues seem to have been resolved,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
The oil spill in Santa Barbara is not expected to change gas prices because of the availability of crude oil elsewhere, Spring said.
