With the Oscars just a few weeks away on Feb. 22, WestsideToday.com polled online readers, asking: “Which film should win best picture at the Oscars?”
The results are in and 36 percent of voters want “American Sniper” to take home the top prize at the Academy Awards. This may be due to its astounding box office success. In its first two weeks in wide release earlier this month it collected $200.1 million in the U.S. and Canada — and that figure is expected to grow.
Coming in second place in the poll, “Boyhood” collected 19 percent of the vote ahead of “Birdman” with 13 percent.
Rounding out the rest of of the nominees in the poll were “The Imitation Game” (11 percent), “Selma” (9 percent), “The Grand Budapest Hotel” (5 percent), “The Theory of Everything” (4 percent), and “Whiplash” (3 percent).
