A Delta jetliner whose pilot reported in-flight problems on its way to Minneapolis safely returned to Los Angeles International Airport today about an hour after takeoff.
The Delta flight 2116, with 152 people aboard, departed LAX about 8:30 a.m., but the pilot quickly reported some type of mechanical problem.
The pilot circled the airport for about an hour, burning off fuel, and landed safely at about 9:30 a.m.
The exact nature of the plane’s mechanical problem was not immediately known.
