About 100 Caltrans workers will be doing “swarm maintenance” today along the three freeways that feed into the East Los Angeles interchange.
The men and women in orange hardhats will be cleaning up, painting over graffiti and repairing guardrails and irrigation systems where the Santa Ana (5), San Bernardino (10) and the Hollywood (101) freeways come together.
The idea behind swarm maintenance, Caltrans spokesman Patrick Chandler said, is to get it done quickly to minimize disrupting the flow of traffic.
The work is set to start at 6 a.m. and wrap up by noon. If needed, detour signs will be posted.
