Work crews this morning were wrapping up repairs on a ruptured water main at Highland Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood, police said today.
One westbound lane of Santa Monica Boulevard has been reopened and crews hoped to reopen the entire intersection by 6 a.m., said Sgt. Clifton Frazier of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division.
The 6-inch main broke about 4 p.m. Monday and water gushed, causing the intersection to be closed to traffic, said MaryAnn Pierson of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. DWP crews took at least two hours to shut down the main.
A Walgreens pharmacy was closed because of the lack of water, Pierson said.
