With customer service and sales at the core of her profession, Sales Manager at Century City’s Seasons 52, Monica Challingsworth, is motivated by her passion to provide excellent experiences for her clients, creating special occasions on-site and throughout the local area.
Tell me a little about what you do in Century City?
I am responsible for all of the sales and marketing for Seasons 52 in Century City. My main focus is booking large events on and off site and to ensure we have strong community partners and relationships.
What motivated you to get into the role?
I have always had a passion for restaurants and entertaining. This role allows me to meet new people every day and gives me the opportunity to treat each guest as if they were a friend in my home. When I was offered the chance to open one of our largest locations I knew it would be a challenge, however taking the risk has been an extremely rewarding opportunity.
Where did it all begin for you career-wise?
After obtaining my degree in Hospitality Management I immediately jumped into sales related roles. This is where I learned how rewarding it is to grow revenue and watch hard work pay off. I loved the freedom but missed the hospitality industry. Seasons 52 allows me to have the best of both worlds while still growing and learning each day.
What do you love about Century City? Where is your favorite place to eat/exercise/take a break from the office in the area?
What is not to love about Century City? It is a powerful community with incredible backing and brilliant minds and skill sets everywhere you look. Century City is breathtaking from the art pieces to the fountains and all the perfectly manicured grounds surrounding each individual business. My favorite place to relax after work is The Cellar Bar & Grill; it feels like a pub from back home in Pennsylvania. I love the casual feel and great drink specials! Equinox Century City is where I find my relaxation. From the amazing service as soon as you walk in, to the clean and bright gym and over to an incredible spa, it will take all of the day’s stressors away.
If you could add one thing to the area what would it be and why?
A dog park! Even though I do not have a dog, it would be a nice touch.
What do you do in you spare time?
In my spare time I enjoy traveling to surrounding cities with friends and family. The summer was spent camping in Big Sur, wine tasting in Napa Valley and watching my big brother get married in Santa Barbara. I love discovering new bars and restaurants and big Sunday Brunch gatherings all around the city. This time of year especially, having friends over for a BBQ and a day of football and games.
What is one cool thing that you want to do this year?
Obtain my residential real estate license. I have wanted to get into real estate since I was 14. I love what I do now but it is an exciting personal goal for the future.
Where was your last vacation?
Ireland. My mom and I met at JFK and flew into Dublin. We had no itinerary and no hotel reservations. We simply rented a car and hit the road. We drove through Southern Ireland for 10 days, immersing ourselves in the local culture. It was the trip of a lifetime and I couldn’t imagine sharing it with anyone else.
Where do you wish your last vacation was?
My last trip was perfect. I wouldn’t have changed a thing about it. Someday I would love to travel to Australia and dive the Great Barrier Reef.
