City and county officials are scheduled today to make a presentation before the Los Angeles City Council on best practices for informing and safeguarding city residents concerning Ebola.
Los Angeles County interim Director of Public Health Dr. Jeffrey Gunzenhauser, Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Michael Downing, Los Angeles Fire Department Deputy Chief Mario Rueda and executives from Los Angeles World Airports, the city agency that operates Los Angeles International Airport, are scheduled to speak at the presentation.
Councilman Paul Koretz introduced the motion calling for the presentation.
“The Ebola epidemic in Africa and the current cases in the United States constitute a serious public health issue,” Koretz said.
“It is important that we remain dispassionate and objective, with best practices established and honed and effective lines of communications between agencies, institutions, media and the public in place.”
