Five-time Emmy winning actor Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence, his co-star on their new FX comedy “Partners,” will join in throwing the ceremonial first pitch before today’s Los Angeles Dodgers-Chicago Cubs game at Dodger Stadium.
Grammer will also announce the Dodgers starting lineup.
In “Partners,” which will premiere Monday, Grammer and Lawrence play Chicago lawyers from vastly different backgrounds who unexpectedly meet in court as they each face a personal crisis, then develop a partnership.
Five-time Grammy-winning country singer Wynonna Judd will sing the national anthem.
Dennis Powell, who pitched for the Dodgers in 1985 and 1986, will sign autographs in the right field pavilion plaza from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., the same time as Billy Ashley, a Dodger outfielder from 1992-97, will be signing autographs in the left field pavilion plaza.
Powell and Ashley will also sign autographs in the Stadium Club from 1- 1:30 p.m., along with Kenny Landreaux, a Dodger outfielder from 1981-87.
Landreaux will also sign autographs from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. as part of Viva Los Dodgers, which will be held at the 76 gasoline station in the Dodger Stadium parking lot. Viva Los Dodgers will also include musical entertainment by Grammy-nominated producer and DJ Scoop Deville, Johnny Polanco y su Conjunto Amistad and Ballet Folklorico Las Alazanas.
U.S. Army Sgt. Nathan Wong will be honored as the Veteran of the Game. Wong serves with the Charlie Company 2/3 Aviation Medevac Regiment based at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia. Wong is crew chief and team leader on the UH-60 Blackhawk Medevac Unit, which evacuates casualties from combat zones.
Wong has served two deployments to Afghanistan and completed the Warrior Leader Course and Air Assault Course. His accolades include the Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Medal and Army Good Conduct Medal.
The crowd will include 250 youths from the Miguel Contreras Learning Complex in the Westlake district and the C. Robert Lee Activity Center in Hawaiian Gardens, who will be attending through Kids 4 Dodgers Baseball. The program provides a reserve level-ticket, voucher for a Dodger Dog and beverage, a Kids 4 Dodgers Baseball T-shirt, and transportation to the game for groups of low-income, inner-city youths.
All auto gates will open at 10:30 a.m. and all stadium gates at 11 a.m. for the 1:10 p.m. game.
