UCLA Health System honored five of its doctors with “Exceptional Physician” awards during festivities to celebrate “National Hospital Week,” May 11-17.
Two other physicians, along with many nurses and other staff members at both Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood and UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, were honored during celebrations for “National Nurses’ Week,” May 6-12.
Receiving exceptional physician honors at the Westwood campus were Dr. Anjay Rastogi, who is director of the UCLA Dialysis Program, and Dr. Karen Miotto, who is director of Alcoholism and Addiction Medicine at the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital.
They were joined by Dr. Catherine Le, who was chosen by the Westwood nursing staff to receive its “Physician Partner of the Year” award. Dr. Le is a fellow in neurosurgery.
Exceptional physician honorees at the Santa Monica campus were Dr. Bita Farrell, an anesthesiologist, Dr. Irawan Susanto, who is director of interventional pulmonology, and Dr. Eugenia Wen, an intensivist in pulmonary and critical care medicine.
The trio was joined by Dr. Christopher Tymchuk, a hospitalist selected by the Santa Monica nursing staff as its “Physician Partner of the Year.”
“Each of the physicians honored is genuinely exceptional, as are the more than 50 other physicians nominated for these awards,” said Dr. Jonathan Hiatt, UCLA professor of surgery and vice-dean for faculty. “It’s extremely difficult to select only a few physicians for awards when there are so many talented and exceptional physicians at UCLA.”
