City Year Los Angeles’ third annual “Spring Break: Destination Education†fundraiser last night raised $1.3 million to support the work of their 275 AmeriCorps members who serve as tutors, mentors and role models to more than 4,000 students who are at risk of dropping out of school. City Year Los Angeles is an education-focused, nonprofit organization that partners with public schools to help keep students in school and on track to graduate. In the 2011-2012 school year, 91 percent of teachers agreed that City Year corps members provided essential academic support students wouldn’t otherwise receive.
