After examining up to 19 proposed alternative routes for a subway extension to the Westside of Los Angeles, Metro has selected two alternatives. The agency will be holding a new round of public meetings to present their proposals to the public beginning September 3 at the Santa Monica Public Library and the City of West Hollywood on September 4.
Additional meetings include:
-Beverly Hills area: September 6 from 2-4 p.m. at the Beverly Hills Public Library Auditorium, 2nd Floor, 444 No. Rexford Drive.
-Wilshire/Fairfax area: September 8, 6-8 p.m. at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art West-Terrace Room, 5th Floor at 5905 Wilshire Boulevard.
-Westwood Area: September 8, 6-8 p.m. at the Westwood Presbyterian Church, 10822 Wilshire Boulevard.
Three rounds of meetings have already taken place since October 2007 to identify routes for further study. The two selected include Alternative 1, the Wilshire subway and Alternative 11, the combined Wilshire/West Hollywood subway.
If the recommendations are approved by the Metro Board, further study and a full environmental impact review are necessary.
