The widow of the man who was driving the car in which he and actor Paul Walker were killed Nov. 30 sued Porsche Cars North America on May 12.
Kristine Rodas, wife of Roger Rodas, filed the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court. She alleges wrongful death, negligence and products liability. The suit seeks unspecified damages.
A Porsche representative could not be immediately reached.
According to the complaint, a suspension defect in the right rear wheel area of the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT sent the car out of control despite Roger Rodas’ attempts to stay on the road. The two were at a charity event in Santa Clarita before taking a spin in the high-performance car.
A higher standard of crash protection should have been used in the car given that it was designed with racecar capabilities, the suit states.
Sheriff’s investigators said Rodas was driving more than 93 mph.
