A Beverly Hills dentist was sentenced on April 29 to one year in jail for insurance fraud and paid more than $750,000 in restitution.
Tom Kalili, 59, pleaded no contest on April 10 to one felony count each of insurance fraud and failure to file income tax returns.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Horwitz sentenced Kalili to five years probation in addition to the jail term and $786,021 in restitution.
Kalili, who owned and operated Beverly Hills Medical Suites, a dental office, was arrested in May 2012, following a multi-year joint investigation by state regulators and tax agents.
Kalili’s former office manager, Claudia Ventura, 40, pleaded no contest on April 10 to two felony counts of insurance fraud. She is expected to be sentenced on July 11 to 180 days in jail, 200 hours of community service and five years probation.
