Brentwood Beat – The Autumn of Our Lives

We’re all saddened that Bill Rosendahl won’t run for reelection, and we all wish him the best as he fights his illness. His “go for it†spirit inspires all of us.

With the arrival of fall, one is reminded that another year is almost behind us. This is a motivator, I find. Whatever we’ve still got left to do while we’re still on this planet – let’s get on with it!

I’m sure Bill would agree.

Life goes on. Progress continues its slow but steady march.

The Sunset Bridge is finally done. People like to complain about projects like these while they’re being done, but in the long run, we all benefit.

It looks to me like the MTA crews did a fine job and we wish them continued sucess as they finish up the 405 project. Before we know it, the Expo Line and the “Subway to the Sea†will be done as well.

I always get asked during political years like this if the Brentwood News will endorse any candidates.
I like to write about politics and interview those in office (or running for office) as much as any newspaper guy, but I’ve never thought it my place to tell people for whom they should vote.

That said, I AM going to ask you to “vote†for a project I’ve been working on for a few years now. It’s called “THE LATEST.†Back in 1996, when the Internet was just getting started, I registered a domain name, www.thelatest.com.
As it turns out, it’s a potentially very search-engine friendly term. Last month, 55 million Google searches included the word “latest†(the latest news, latest lady gaga, latest iphone, etc.).

I just posted this project on “Indiegogo,†one of these new “crowd-funding†portals. If you’d like to learn more about THE LATEST, I invite you to go visit: www.indiegogo.com/THE-LATEST.

See the ad on the lower left side of this page. This last summer, several student interns from Brentwood helped with this project. I’m always amazed at the outstanding kids Brentwood produces. Thanks, guys!

Last but not least, the Brentwood Art Fair returns to San Vicente Blvd. Sunday, Oct. 28. I love the Brentwood Art Fair; I do all my holiday shopping all on one day and it’s all very reasonably priced. There’s something for everyone.

See you there!
