Open House to Celebrate Completion of New Christian Science Church in Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — There will be a Celebration Open House co-hosted by First Church of Christ, Scientist, Santa Monica and Minardos Group Builders, the local contractor for the recently completed Christian Science church complex at 505 Arizona Ave., at Fifth St., Sunday, Sept. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. on site. Open to the public, the event will offer a pipe organ concert, a community choir performance with solos, recognition presentations, and special activities for children. For information call: 310-395-1411.

The authentic mission-style design by B-3 Architects of Santa Barbara reflects the local congregations vision for a new church to better serve its needs and as well as those of the community. It also reflects the architectural heritage of Santa Monica itself. The new structure consists of: an auditorium for worship services, a separate Sunday school, church offices and meeting rooms–all grouped around an inner courtyard space, complete with tiled fountain and olive tree. The tranquil setting is for the enjoyment of all those seeking a peaceful retreat in the heart of downtown Santa Monica.

The Christian Science Reading Room, an essential part of the new church complex, is a community bookstore and drop-in center for the exploration of spiritual healing, prayer and spirituality; it is open to the public Mon. thru Fri., 10 to 5.
