PICK A THEME AND STICK TO IT! A theme takes any party to a higher level. No matter what your child’s interests; a character, color or object there are always ways to incorporate their interests into an overall party theme.
Helpful Hint: Invitations, paper goods, cake, balloons, favors, activities, food and attire all can tie into the theme of choice.
CHOOSE AN ACTIVITY THAT IS AGE APPROPRIATE AND THAT TIES INTO THE OVERALL EVENT THEME When planning a party for kids, it is especially important to focus their attention and use up some of their energy constructively.
Helpful Hint: For example, if you choose High School the Musical as your theme, you can build the activities around a performance. Create a stage area with accessories to help each tyke get into a character from the movie. You can decide how simple or elaborate to make this. Depending on the number, skills and organizational abilities of the guests (and parents) guests might top of the affair with a performance!
3. PLAN YOUR TIME WISELY! (This is more a tip for parents) The most important thing is to be able to enjoy your own party; organization is the key to this. Don’t sweat the small stuff; your small guests will not miss these tiny touches and their won’t impact their happy memories either.
Helpful Hint: Plan your party between the hours of 1-5pm. Keep the party to a maximum of two hours. This way you can have a few small snacks for parents and kids alike but do not have to provide a full meal for anyone. By doing this you can keep a lid of your party’s budget.
4. MANAGE YOUR GUESTLIST!
Nowadays parents feel that they must invite every classmate to their child’s birthday party. This is very nice but not always necessary. It is perfectly acceptable to invite only your child’s same-gender playmates.
Helpful Hint: Speak to your child’s teacher about bringing a small treat for the entire class to celebrate. This way no one is left out.
5. DO-IT-YOURSELF PARTY FAVORS!
Although parties favors are not required, kids really do love them — and Westside tykes have come to expect them. However they can get very expensive. A nice way to ensure your guests go home happy is to make favors instead of buying them. This will also make for some wonderful pre-party fun time with your child.
Helpful Hint: If your party theme is airplanes, for example, you and your tyke can take an inexpensive toiletry kit and personalize it with each party guest’s name with markers, paints, stickers. You’ll end up with an easy-to-make and useful party favor.
If your child is old enough, it’s also nice for him or her to hand out them out. This will provide your child with the opportunity to thank each friend for celebrating their special day.
BK Events can do all of the above and more but for the do-it-yourself-ers amongst, these tips will ensure a good time for all.
