A 77-year-old man was hospitalized in stable condition Saturday, recovering from stab wounds he suffered during a home-invasion robbery at his Malibu apartment.
Deputies were called about 10:50 p.m. Friday to the 20700 block of Pacific Coast Highway as firefighters responded to a reported stabbing at that address, according to the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Malibu/Lost Hills Station.
They arrived as the victim was being taken to a hospital, where investigators later questioned the man. He said he was watching television in his living room when two men confronted and assaulted him, according to sheriff’s officials.
“He struggled with the suspects and at some point realized that he was bleeding,” according to a statement from the Malibu-Lost Hills Station. “While one of the suspects forced him to stay in the room, the other suspect ransacked the apartment.”
The suspects made off with unspecified property and personal items belonging to the victim, authorities said.
“The victim sustained non-life-threatening wounds from a blade-type object,” according to the statement.
Anyone with information that could lead investigators to the culprits was urged to contact Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff’s detectives at (818) 878-1808. Anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
