The thriller “No Good Deed” debuted atop the North American box office, collecting $24.2 million over the weekend, according to final figures released Monday.
The film easily topped the debut of the more family friendly “Dolphin Tale 2,” which opened in second place with $15.9 million, according to Rentrak.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” continued to be a box office attraction, earning $8.1 million to push its seven-week total to $305.9 million. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” also remained in the top five, earning $4.8 million to lift its six-week total to $181.1 million.
The comedy “Let’s Be Cops” placed fifth with $4.4 million.
Rounding out the top 10 movies of the weekend were “The Drop” ($4.1 million); “If I Stay” ($3.9 million); “The November Man” ($2.8 million); “The Giver” ($2.6 million); and “The Hundred-Foot Journey” ($2.4 million).
