Two players from Los Angeles County and goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann of Newport Beach were among the 20-player roster announced on Wednesday for the U.S. under-18 men’s national soccer team.
Midfielder Jorge Ruiz of Mission Hills was a member of the Los Angeles Galaxy team that won the recent U.S. Soccer Development Academy U-15/16 championship. Forward Haji Wright of Los Angeles is the lone member of the team born in 1998. The other 19 were all born in 1997.
Klinsmann is the son of U.S. men’s national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
The team will play in the 21st International Tournament of Vaclav Jezek in the Czech Republic Thursday through Aug. 24.
