Los Angeles County health officials Tuesday urged residents to avoid swimming, surfing or playing in ocean waters around flowing storm drains, creeks and rivers until at least Wednesday morning.
Due to recent rainfall, bacteria, debris, trash, and other public health hazards from city streets, canyons and mountains are likely to flow to the ocean through those outlets, health officials said.
The health advisory will be in effect until at least 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Recorded information on beach conditions is available 24 hours a day on the county’s beach closure hotline, (800) 525-5662, or at www.publichealth.lacounty.gov/beach.
