Seventeen Archer students participated in the California Association of Independent Schools Honor Music Festival on February 3 and 4 at Viewpoint School in Calabasas. Orchestral musicians Audrey Koh ‘17 and Hannah Kim ‘20 performed with the orchestra and were featured soloists. Six upperclassmen sang with the Concert Choir and nine eighth and ninth grade students performed with the all-new Treble Choir.
And the school’s two acapella groups – Something Major and the Unaccompanied Minors – attended the Los Angeles A Cappella Festival at Calabasas High School from Feb. 3-5. Singers enjoyed a scholastic competition on Friday night; workshops, master classes, and performances throughout the day on Saturday; and a professional showcase Saturday night.
Sunday’s “industry track” was dedicated to learning from professionals who work in a cappella arranging, recording, and production for a living. It was a rewarding and life-changing weekend for the students who left feeling energized about making music at Archer and in the future.
