Thanks to a surge in popularity of bodybuilding in the early 1900s, there may be no gym as iconic as Muscle Beach in Venice. On Saturday, it was host to a powerlifting competition that saw competitors from a range of demographics all competing to lift as much as they possibly could. According to promoter Joe Wheatley, the Muscle Beach community welcomes these competitions with open arms.
