By Ted Lieu

It’s hard to believe that it has been six months since I was sworn in as your Congressman. Aside from my weekly cross-country commute, I absolutely love my new job. It is truly an honor to represent you in Washington.
I am writing to ask for your support for my re-election. I need your help to able to continue to fight for the values and priorities that matter most to our community. I can’t do this alone.
Can I count on your support at the $500, $250, $100 or $50 level?
Some of the items I have been working on these past six months:
As a Member of the House Budget Committee, I have been fighting for progressive priorities in the federal budget process: to raise wages of middle class workers, protect social security and Medicare, and invest in infrastructure and education.
I have introduced some important pieces of legislation. One of the main reasons I ran for Congress was to help address the existential crisis of global climate change, so the very first bill I introduced in the House is the most aggressive climate change legislation in Congress. I have also introduced the first federal bill to stop so-called “conversion therapy.” It is psychological abuse and fraud and must stop now.
As a veteran, I care deeply about our brave women and men who have served our country in uniform. I am working with the Department of Veterans Affairs to improve services for our veterans at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, and in particular to tackle veteran homelessness in LA. No one who has fought for our country should have to fight for a place to sleep at night.
Your privacy and Fourth Amendment rights remain of paramount importance to me. As a Member of the House Oversight Committee, I am committed to preventing government overreach into the private lives of American citizens.
But these issues take many people working together to make it happen. I am grateful that you have been on my team in the past.
Can I count on your support once again at the $250, $100 or $50 level?
It has been a busy first six months and I look forward to continuing to serve you and fight for our shared values for many years to come – but I need your teamwork.
It continues to be an honor to serve as your representative in Washington.
