The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 29th consecutive day, decreasing 1.1 cents to $3.212.
The average price has dropped 32.5 cents over the past 29 days, including nine-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose $1.078 during a 34-day streak of increases immediately preceding the current run of price drops.
The average price is 6 cents less than one week ago, 31.6 cents lower than one month ago and 86.5 cents below what it was one year ago.
The Orange County average price also dropped for the 29th consecutive day today, decreasing nine-tenths of a cent to $3.171. It is 6.2 cents less than one week ago, 33.8 cents lower than one month ago and 88.8 cents below what it was one year ago.
The Orange County average price has dropped 35.1 cents over the past 29 days, including 1.2 cents on Thursday. It rose $1.09 during a 33-day streak of increases that ended one day before the current streak of declines began.
“Wholesale gasoline prices have fluctuated, but so far they have remained at levels allowing many local gas stations to charge close to or less than $3 a gallon,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
