The Los Angeles Police Commission will discuss rules for officers using body-worn cameras at meetings in South Los Angeles and Canoga Park this week.
Mayor Eric Garcetti recently announced plans to equip all Los Angeles police officers with body cameras by 2016 to document interactions with the public. The city has already purchased about 800 body cameras for officers at the Newton, Mission and Central divisions.
Police officials said they do not plan to use the cameras until a policy is in place for where and when the devices could be used, and what should done with the recordings.
The 6:30 p.m. meetings are set for Wednesday at the Green Meadows Recreation Center, 431 E. 89th St., and Thursday at the A.G.B.U. Manoogian- Demirdjian School, 6844 Oakdale Ave.
