Passengers headed to London aboard an American Airlines flight that was delayed at LAX because of a Wi-Fi hotspot named “Al- Quida Free Terror Nettwork” were expected to depart on a different flight today.
Passengers aboard Flight 136, which had been scheduled to take off at 8 p.m. Sunday, were cooped up in the plane for about three hours after a passenger notified an attendant about the hotspot — a mobile Internet connection provided by a smartphone.
Passengers said were told the flight was delayed because of a security issue but never specified what it was, ABC7 reported. The airline indicated the flight was delayed out of an abudance of caution.
The flight was rescheduled for 1 p.m. today.
