As actress, author, and TV personality Brooke Burke-Charvet stated: “Every child in every country deserves to face every day with a smile.” This is the mission of Operation Smile, to raise more than $1 million to provide medical treatment in more than 60 countries, at their recent gala at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
Operation Smile founders Dr. Bill and Kathy Magee dreamed of a world where no child suffers from lack of access to safe surgery, and among their celebrated supporters is Smile Ambassador Billy Bush, Access Hollywood anchor.
Actress Kate Walsh, a former honoree herself, presented Billy an award as the organizations “Big Brother” – we must admit he had the biggest smile in the room of more than 450 guests.
Others honored included Ken Corday, Executive Producer of “Days of our Lives,” who received his Humanitarian Award from actress Deidre Hall, who participated in a medical mission to Brazil with her son, David Sohmer.
We were treated to a performance by the captivating Company Men, before headliner Judith Hall, known for her performance on “The Voice,” performed a trio of uplifting numbers, including “You’ve Got a Friend.” And indeed, she is, as well as the more than 220,000 children born with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities, who received free surgical procedures.
This opening of Piaget on Rodeo Drive had everything – gorgeous décor, precious jewels, glamorous guests, fab hors d’oeuvres, sparkling wines, and aperitifs.
Leading lady and Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain was among the stars in attendance, as well as “Game of Thrones” star Natalie Dormer, “Glee” star Dianna Agron, “American Hustle” star Elisabeth Rohm, and “Hunger Games” star Meta Golding – all decked out in glittering Piaget jewels.
Others in attendance included philanthropist and art devote Sutton Stracke, and Decades’ founder Cameron Silver.
We were greeted by Philippe Leopold-Metzger, CEO of Piaget, who stated: “Our new flagship store is the perfect location to enable us to be closer to our friends in the film and entertainment world, with whom we have such strong ties.”
