John Mayer and Imagine Dragons will be the headliners at the Budweiser Made in America music festival planned at Grand Park in downtown Los Angeles over Labor Day weekend, organizers announced on May 22.
The musical event, promoted by Jay-Z, is expected to bring thousands of people to the Civic Center park on Aug. 30-31.
Among the other performers scheduled to take part in the festival are Weezer, Kendrick Lamar, Sublime with Rome, Capital Cities, Cypress Hill, Nipsey Hussle, Hit-Boy, Will Sparks, Metric, Schoolboy Q and A Tribe Called Red.
A mirror festival will be held concurrently in Philadelphia, where Kanye West and Kings of Leon will headline the action.
Los Angeles City Councilman Jose Huizar expressed concerns about the planned festival when it was announced, saying he was worried about large crowds and the impact on downtown-area streets. Mayor Eric Garcetti, however, hailed plans for the event, saying the city plans to “throw a world-class party.”
