Road Closure and Traffic News: Sepulveda Boulevard

A portion of Sepulveda Boulevard will be closed overnight this week. (Image courtesy of Metro)

Beginning tonight at 10 p.m. and continuing each night through Friday, traffic along a stretch of Sepulveda Boulevard will be delayed as a full road closure goes into affect on the major thoroughfare today through March 7.

Crews will be working along Sepulveda Boulevard between Homedale Street and Montana Avenue starting at 10 p.m. tonight. Specifically, crews will be performing curb and gutter work. The project is part of the improvement of the San Diego, or 405, Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass.

Sepulveda Boulevard will be closed 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. each day.

Metro is overseeing the improvement project.

Those traveling north along Sepulveda Boulevard from Westwood and toward the San Fernando Valley will be redirected onto Montana Avenue through the eastern edge of Brentwood, then Church Lane, and then back onto Sepulveda in Bel-Air.

Alternatively, those driving south on Sepulveda Boulevard will be diverted onto Church Lane in Bel-Air and then onto Montana Avenue before re-connecting with Sepulveda in the Westwood area.

Between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. during weekdays, Sepulveda Boulevard will be reduced to one lane each direction between Montana Avenue and Church Lane/Ovada Place.

Also, as of last weekend, Metro stated on its website Sepulveda Boulevard remain closed on weekends from Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 6 a.m.

The closure schedule will repeat weekly until Monday, April 6.

Metro states the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project will decrease commuter time, reduce air pollution, and increase ride sharing by adding a 10-mile carpool lane for northbound lanes of the freeway between the 10 and 101 freeways, replacement of bridges at Skirball Center Drive, Sunset Boulevard, and Mulholland Drive, realigning 27 on- and off-ramps, widening 13 existing underpasses and structures, and constructing about 18 miles of retaining and sound walls

For more information of the project and related construction updates, please visit Metro’s webpage about the Sepulveda Pass improvements.
